Staff Designer, Product Creative
About Faire
Faire is a technology wholesale platform built on the belief that the future is local. Independent retailers around the globe collectively represent a multi-hundred-billion-dollar wholesale market that has historically been fragmented and offline. At Faire, we're using the power of tech, data, and machine learning to connect this thriving community of entrepreneurs across the globe. Picture your favorite boutique in town — we help them discover the best products from around the world to sell in their stores. With the right tools and insights, we believe that we can level the playing field so businesses can grow and local communities can thrive.
We’re looking for smart, resourceful and passionate people to join us as we power the shop local movement. If you believe in community, come join ours.
About this role
This is a cross-pillar, staff-level individual contributor role reporting to the Senior Director of Product Design, Discovery. You'll be Faire's creative quality owner — the person who thinks about the holistic visual and experiential identity of our product and programs, and ensure they are shipped at high quality in-product and cohesive to our customers out of product.
You are staffed centrally. You move across the entire product surface, partnering with pillar leads, pod designers + engineers, system designers + engineers, and creative stakeholders to define and raise the visual bar. You'll lead high-ambiguity, high-visibility creative problems from 0 to 1—the kind that shift how Faire feels for every retailer and brand who uses it.
We're looking for candidates open to working in San Francisco, CA or New York, NY.
What You’ll Work On
Rebranding and evolving flagship programs like Faire's Insider membership—rethinking visual identity, hierarchy, and touchpoints across PDPs, product tiles, and marketing surfaces
Defining the visual language for Faire's emerging AI product suite—naming, color, iconography, and UX differentiation
Evolving holistic systems work—color strategy, iconography, illustration framework, interaction patterns, motion standards—that affects every pod and every surface, and partnering with design platform to encode those decisions into scalable standards that get to every designer and engineer
Partnering with the design systems team to encode creative decisions into scalable standards that reach every pod, every surface, every engineer — and supercharging that team's impact in return. In our next era of AI-native product development, having a clearer quality bar that's set at the creative level and scaled through systems is how Faire raises the floor for everyone
Partnering with product design teams to ship, not just to hand off—you'll be working with engineers and product designers to get things across the finish line and be co-accountable to the success of the work
What We're Looking For
Exceptional visual and creative craft—you continually raise the bar
Meaningful experience working within digital product environments—you know how to partner with product managers, engineers, and product designers, and you understand how brand decisions land in shipped UI
Comfort with ambiguity and cross-functional complexity — you can drive your own projects, build alignment across stakeholders, and know how to make things happen in a large organization
Strong communication and influencing skills—you don’t need direct authority to move things forward
Systems thinking—you see individual creative decisions in the context of the whole product and contribute to/highly collaborate with the design systems team
Creative Director backgrounds are welcome if paired with demonstrated experience translating brand and visual identity work into meaningful customer impact and business outcomes.
What You'll Find Here
A highly visible, strategic role with real impact on how Faire looks and feels at scale
Staff-level scope with cross-pillar reach—you’ll touch everything
Close partnership with creative and product leadership
An opportunity to build Faire's creative quality infrastructure at a pivotal moment in the company's growth
Qualifications
10+ years of experience in visual design, brand design, or creative direction — with meaningful time spent working inside digital product environments.
Exceptional creative craft and aesthetic sensibility — you have a point of view, and your portfolio shows it.
Proven ability to translate brand and visual identity work into shipped product experiences — you understand how creative decisions land in UI and at scale.
Experience driving cross-functional creative work in complex organizations — you can build alignment, influence without authority, and move things forward across many stakeholders.
Strong systems thinking — you see individual creative decisions in the context of the whole product, and know how to partner with design systems teams to encode and scale them.
A portfolio that demonstrates range across in-product and out-of-product surfaces, with clear communication of creative strategy and its impact.
Comfort with ambiguity and self-directed project management — you can take a high-ambiguity problem from 0 to 1 without needing a detailed brief.
Curiosity about how AI is changing creative practice — you're actively exploring new tools and workflows, and excited to help define what AI-assisted creative work looks like at Faire.
Curiosity and openness to working closely with product designers, engineers, and PMs — and genuine interest in how brand decisions affect product outcomes.
And, ideally, a sense of humor!
