OVERVIEW
This is an interim coverage position. Hours will roughly be 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, starting September 14th and running through January 29th.
Brew Markets, our Monday-Friday daily markets recap newsletter, is looking for an experienced interim editor for contract coverage from September 7th 2026-January 19th 2027. In this role, you’ll own the day-to-day editing and publishing of Brew Markets, ensuring the newsletter remains accurate, engaging, and on-brand. You’ll work closely with reporters, writers, and designers to shape stories, guide coverage, and maintain Morning Brew’s editorial standards. Strong editorial judgment, clear communication, and comfort working on deadline are essential.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Editing and publishing Brew Markets newsletters on a regular schedule
Assigning stories to Brew Markets reporters each day
Shaping story angles, headlines, structure, and flow to maximize clarity and impact
Ensuring all content adheres to Morning Brew’s style guide, tone, and voice
Collaborating with reporters on story development and revisions
Coordinating with design and data visualization partners on charts, graphics, and visual elements
Maintaining high standards for accuracy, clarity, and readability
Managing last-minute changes and breaking news updates when necessary
Helping keep editorial workflows running smoothly during the leave period
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
Experience editing in a newsroom or media environment, ideally covering business, markets, or finance
Strong understanding of financial news, markets, and investing concepts
Excellent editorial judgment and attention to detail
Comfort working closely with reporters, designers, and editors under tight deadlines
Ability to manage multiple stories and priorities at once
Strong written communication skills
Fluency with online publishing tools and collaborative workflows
Calm, organized, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment
COMPENSATION $60-75/hr, commensurate with experience
