Role Overview
We're looking for a Game Designer specialising in balance and economy to strengthen one of the core areas of a mature, live-ops-driven F2P project. The key goal is to rebuild the in-game economy and bring system-level rigour to how we balance live-ops — moving from point-by-point tuning of individual events toward a coherent, interconnected approach.
This is a hands-on, analytical role: you will dive into the data yourself to understand how the game behaves today, build the models and frameworks needed for balancing, and work in close partnership with the producer, game designers and analysts to take your decisions through to production.
Key Responsibilities
Diagnose the current state of the game economy through independent, hands-on data analysis
Systematically configure and maintain the in-game economy, including the monetisation layer
Design and tune live-ops balance — not only within individual events, but across the whole layer, accounting for how events interact with and influence one another
Establish a systematic workflow for live-ops balancing and an overall approach to rewards within events
Help shape the event calendar toward stronger synergy between events
Build and maintain balance models, documentation, charts and diagrams
Analyse balance and monetisation, and propose data-backed changes and improvements
Work with producer, game designers, level designers and analysts to validate and ship balance changes
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Senior or Lead-level experience in game design, game balance, or economy design on live F2P games
Strong understanding of F2P economies, including currencies, rewards, monetisation, offers, pricing, and player segmentation
Hands-on experience balancing progression, live-ops content and reward systems
Strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently with data using SQL and BI tools
Advanced Excel or spreadsheet modelling skills. Experience building economy simulations is a plus
Good understanding of statistics and A/B testing
Strong mathematical and systems-thinking skills
Ability to create clear, repeatable balancing frameworks and documentation
Experience with match-3, casual, puzzle, or other live-ops-heavy games is a plus
