Technical Designer

You will transform concepts into exceptional workspaces while collaborating with cross-functional teams, consultants, and clients. This role offers an exciting opportunity to ensure the delivery of high-quality, innovative spaces that inspire and perform.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

Organize design deliverables, lead the production of detailed construction documents, and coordinate with consultants and internal teams to ensure seamless project execution.

Prepare comprehensive design documentation including drawing, technical details, schedules and specifications using Revit, delivering construction-ready outputs with precision and accuracy.

Participating in all project phases, from concept to completion with a focus on the later design stages.

Communicate with the wider internal project team to ensure alignment of design and project requirements across the other disciplines.

Ensure selected materials, fittings and fixtures are suitable for the project purpose and requirements.

Performing code reviews, reviewing submittals, and collaborating with consultants, suppliers and sub-contractors.

Organize and lead design team meetings with the project sub-consultant team to drive coordination across packages and ensure the accuracy and quality of design information.

Attend project sites to anticipate challenges, attend site meetings, provide technical advice, and ensure the accuracy of information delivered to construction teams.

Implement Unispace design standards, processes, and technological solutions to enhance the studio’s capability and effectiveness.

Identify, report, and mitigate risks in design projects, maintaining compliance with ethical and safety standards.

Contribute to Unispace research initiatives, stay current with industry trends, and develop technical expertise to inform the studio’s design output.

About you:

Leading the sequencing of design information into clear, comprehensive packages.

Providing mentorship and leadership to junior designers in the production of construction documents.

Supporting the development of design documents from developed design to handover.

Advising on and implementing technical compliance in line with local regulations and code.

Fostering a collaborative environment, promoting communication across disciplines, and delivering quality results under tight deadlines.

Contributing to a positive and proactive design culture that aligns with Unispace’s values and vision.

Experience you'll need:

Extensive, proven experience in interior design

Degree in Architecture or Interior Design from an accredited school

Previous experience in architecture or design, with a focus on workplace technical design.

Must have BCAR and BCMS knowledge

Demonstrated expertise in commercial interior design projects.

Proficiency in Autodesk Revit and advanced knowledge of BIM up to Level 2.

Familiarity with Enscape, and Adobe Suite is a bonus but not essential.

Ability to manage multiple deadlines while working collaboratively under pressure.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

A proactive attitude, emotional intelligence, and enthusiasm for mentoring and collaboration.

Accreditation in LEED, NCARB, NCIDQ and/or WELL is a bonus but not essential.
